Screaming in the night

Saturday, March 11th, 2006

Nathan has recently started waking up around 11pm and screaming until his mother comes to bed. His father is not good enough nowadays it seems, I just get back-arches and unhappiness when I go in to console him.

Who needs blocks when you have yoghurt?

Thursday, March 9th, 2006

Boo has never stacked blocks before, although he’s quite keen on knocking them down if we stack them up for him. I always wondered if that was normal. However today he proved that old saying that toys are crap, use what you have around you! He got the biggest kick out of stacking his yoghurts today. And he did it repeatedly for a very long time, like ten minutes! Of course he also loved knocking them down and I had to put a stop to it because yoghurt can be very messy. But still… the boy can stack! Yay!

Oreos

Wednesday, March 8th, 2006

Nathan has had bits of Oreos before - might have been his first junk-food treat - tiny bits of the biscuit ripped off to suck on. While driving back from the airport (we got our car at last and ditched the rental!) I passed him an oreo back to keep him ticking over until dinner could have time to happen. My thought was . o O ( How much trouble can a child get into from one little Oreo? ).

Apparantly a lot. Cue a happy-faced child with a tiny bit of Oreo left in one mucky hand, another mucky hand waving around while a very oreo stained face gurgled away at the passing landmarks. As I looked back, he stuffed the tiny bit in his mouth with wild abandon.

Nathan the toddler

Monday, March 6th, 2006

The wonder of a timezone change, a cramped and boring apartment, a city in which he’s rarely allowed to go running around in the streets and a busy set of parents has catapulted dear Nathan into full toddlerdom. What an absolute pain in the arse. Anyone got any chloroform?

Inflatable Earth

Sunday, March 5th, 2006

Today we took Nathan for a walk and a bite to eat in Downtown Seattle. We ate at Joe Rocket burger or some name like that - we’d eaten in one in Cincinatti so knew that he couldn’t be too destructive.

We also found a map shop on 1st between Pine and Pike. So I replaced the small inflatable globe I had (and that Nathan had grown attached to despite the slow leak) with a nice big beachball sized globe. The afternoon was spent having lots of fun with it.

Time change? What's that?

Wednesday, March 1st, 2006

Boo has not adjusted to the time change here in Seattle yet! Poor thing gets tired very early and wakes up around 5! And naptime is totally unpredictable. Hopefully things will improve when we’ve settled down into a place!
