New shoes! Flexible rubber, Oooh.

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

Boo got some new shoes, post-fall. These are called See Kai Run and have flexible rubber bottoms, so falling is less likely on both ends of the spectrum! The soft-soled shoes can be slippery, I think, but hard soled shoes are kind of hard for him to walk in, something akin to bricks or wooden clogs I would think! So he’s more likely to trip and fall in those too.

But these! These are awesome. Oh and totally cute, no? Made right here in Seattle. I even bought them locally at this very cool store called Pop Tots with punk clothes for kiddos. Clearly we’ll have to go back there for some summer t-shirts :D

Going to sleep

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

Twice now, I’ve put Boo to bed, patted him reassuringly a few times, told him I love him, and to give Bunny a big hug, and go to sleep … and I’ve left the room. And he hasn’t peeped.

Actually tonight I didn’t leave the room, but I was out of sight. I heard him sit up, play with his turtle nightlight
(the best nightlight ever by the way!), lay back down, toss and turn a little, and go to sleep. I never thought we’d actually reach this point. Yay!

And the verdict is in

Probably most likely not a concussion. Both H and I were ill well into Tuesday evening and are now feeling better, but weak. Poor boy! He held up a lot better than the two of us!

Not concussion…probably

Monday, April 24th, 2006

As daddy vomits into the late evening, he is reminded not to make assumptions. Nathan had a stomach virus and gave it to his daddy seems most likely, but who knows, maybe it’s just coincidence that I feel like crap and have an empty stomach.

Fall (take 2)

Monday, April 24th, 2006

As a follow-up to yesterday’s fall, today was spent vomiting and in ER waiting to see if it was a mild concussion or worse. Verdict - mild concussion. Favourite moment - blocking a bus lane while stripping a child of his vomit-ridden clothes and making sure he’d got it all out of his mouth. Driving uphill while a child vomits and chokes is not fun.

18 months!

Saturday, April 22nd, 2006

The Boo is 18 months old today!

And to celebrate, he got a split lip :( We were in the bookstore and his little feet just flipped out behind him and he did a face plant! H and I were aghast.

Even though there was much blood, he seemed to be alright after the momentary shock and crying. Then he was as peppy as ever. It looks like such a big cut though, not on the front of his lower lip, but on the inside. We have a ped appt on Monday though so will get it checked out. It stopped bleeding pretty quickly and didn’t seem to bother him, so we didn’t want to go to the ER or anything.

So! Happy 18 month birthday I guess! You’re such a big boy you get to fall on your own. Poor thing!

On, Off, On, Off

Thursday, April 13th, 2006

Boo loves to turn things on and off. Light switches, the TV, the X Box, power tools, what have you. Until recently though, ironically, he couldn’t turn his toys on or off.

But now, he can.

This is both good and bad. Good in that I don’t have to do it for him! Hurrah! Bad in that things can randomly start making screeching noises at me when I least expect it! At least it make bedtime interesting…

Daddy's Home!

Monday, April 10th, 2006

It’s so nice having Daddy home on the weekend! Nathan loves it. Mama loves it too, because if nothing else, she gets to check her email for more than ten seconds at a time :) And today we all took a THREE HOUR NAP all curled up on the bed together. Weekends rock!

New pics!

Saturday, April 8th, 2006

There are new pics up on Boo’s homepage here. I wanted to get some smaller versions to post here, but I’m at the wrong computer! So this will have to do. They are really cute though! Photos from the last few months during the move.

Green Lake Park and other fun activities

Saturday, April 8th, 2006

Boo just gets more fun every day, provided you have the energy to keep up with him! The other day we went to Green Lake Park which we had not been to yet. There’s a fab playground and a huuuuge sand pit! You can imagine what fun THAT was. Nathan kept throwing sand in the air though and I was afraid it would get in someone’s eye so we didn’t hang out there too long. Even in that short space of time, sand sure does get everywhere, doesn’t it?? He has gotten very good at going down the slide on his own, although I’m still afraid to let him loose because the equipment is really made for older kids and I’m afraid he’ll topple off the side! The child has no concept of ‘edge’.

In other news, we’ve been playing the ‘put-the-shaped-block-in-the-correct-shaped-hole’ game recently and he’s not too bad at it! He knows several body parts and still loves to show off his adorable belly button. We think he says ‘eye’ too but it’s hard to tell for sure, being a one syllable vowel. He also tries to pick up the cat, lay on the cat, catch the cat, pull the cat’s tail, etc. Poor kid could use a puppy, they don’t mind that sort of behavior! Oh well, he enjoys himself, even if Menagerie does not!
