Such a Boy

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

I swear up and down that we’re not pushing boy activities on Boo. But there are certain “boy” things that he loves, purely on his own.

Tools. He loves tools. We bought him his first play tools this weekend, because he’s super interested in the tools we’ve been using getting the house done. Drills, screwdrivers, even keys. He can actually open our mailbox with the right key, believe it or not. If he gets his hands on a screwdriver, he knows what to do with it. It is utterly amazing.

Aside from an obsession with tools, there is his obsession with balls. He loves them. He can kick them. In fact he can practically dribble, kicking with both feet. So we finally dressed him in his Liverpool outfit, courtesy of H’s former employers. I’m sure we never would have gotten around to getting him a footie outfit of our own initiative. But he’s so cute! I love the socks!

So there’s photos of Liverpool’s future star on the main site here. What a cutie!

Holding Hands

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

Ever since Boo started walking, he didn’t like to hold hands. He was far too interested in racing off as fast as his wide stumpy little legs could carry him to explore some more. Partly for balance, I’m sure, he wanted nothing to do with holding hands.

This has changed recently, thank goodness, since it’s hazardous at best! On the day we moved in, the movers were in and out of the apartment (obviously) so there was no hope of keeping him inside. I tried slinging him but he tired of that very quickly. Besides, he wanted to EXPLORE!

So we had a little conversation. He’s getting old enough that he can tell when we’re serious, and I told him, rather seriously, that he simply MUST hold my hand at ALL TIMES when we were around cars. It was simply too dangerous otherwise! And lo and behold — he does it! He will even stop outside of our apartment and hold up his hand in the air, waiting for me to take it. How cute is that??

Very clever boy we’ve got here! And one that will hold our hands now. Phew!
