TWO!

Sunday, October 22nd, 2006

Boo turned two today!

We’ve been celebrating all weekend. Yesterday we opened up some pressies and went shopping for a bed at Ikea. We found one we liked (which later turned out to be a bear to put together, particularly with a toddler under foot), and we got some cake and ice cream at the grocery store which of course we broke out that night!

Today we went to a farm with some friends to pick a pumpkin and play at some fall festival activities like bubbles, playing in the corn (like a sand box but with corn), jumping in a bouncy castle (Daddy, not Mama!) and playing in a “barnyard band” which was a hoot. One of Nathan’s friends, Grace (whose birthday was last week), gave him a card and a balloon which was so sweet! She likes to hold his hand, they are very cute.

The boy was pooped and fell asleep in the car but of course woke up when we tried to move him inside. Tonight we’ll see if he’ll sleep in his new bed — Wish us luck! He certainly will have more room than the crib if he’ll agree to stay there!

Happy Birthday Nathan! We love having you around.

Swinging!

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

Boo has never liked swings. If you put him in a baby swing, he would cling to you for dear life. He would cry and demand to be taken ooouuutttt! He didn’t like swings.

Until today! I don’t know if he was inspired by watching older kids swing, but today he wanted to get in the big kids swing. So, okay, up he went. And I pushed him a little, holding my hand on his back the whole time. And he swung. And he enjoyed himself. So I pushed him some more and started to let go. And he swung. And he enjoyed himself. And he even started pumping a little with his body, back and forth.

My boy was swinging! And he loved it! The dawn of a new era!

P.S. He also climbed up a ladder at the playground by himself for the first time which about gave me a heart attack, but he did it very well! All by himself!

The Itsy Bitsy Eensie Weensie Spider

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

Boo can do most of the hand movements to the Itsy Bitsy Eensie Weensie Spider (that was deferrment to yet another American/British difference). He doesn’t do the rain or the sun but he absolutely RELISHES the “washed the spider out!” line. Tonight he wanted to do it over and over. Of course he was also avoiding going to sleep. But still. Such a cute boy!
