Mirrors

Our boy is very funny with mirrors. He definitely gets what they’re for! Sometimes when I’m knitting, the boy will “try on” whatever it is — he seems to think they’re all hats and puts whatever it is on his head — and run to the mirror to check himself out. Incidently he also checks out where poop comes out, but we won’t go into too much detail about that :)

Today however he did something rather clever. We were in the car and he was reading a book and making some sound. I asked what he was looking at, and then didn’t understand the response. So he started saying “this, this” and pointing at the book. So I said I couldn’t see it since I was driving. Then I glance up in my little mirror that lets me look at him, and he had turned the book around and was pointing at the picture. He saw me look, said “Ocket” which is obviously rocket, silly mommy, and I said “Oh! Of course!”

Now, how clever is that that he knew I could see what he was pointing at in the mirror? Or am I giving him too much credit and he was just waiting for me to turn around? Either way… some logical thinking going on here!
